There was no big induction ceremony and concert for this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees due to COVID19, but they’re all being celebrated Saturday night (11/7) on HBO, and today on TIJ! Rock & Roll Hall of Fame CEO, Greg Harris, shares a ton of great stories about the Rock Hall, it’s inductees and exhibits! He breaks down how the ceremony comes together, how they choose who inducts the various honorees, and why some members of a band make the Rock Hall cut, but some don’t. He has tales about Metallica’s late-night museum visit, Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello serving on the Rock Hall nominating committee, and the Sex Pistols’ public diss of their Rock Hall honor (and the members who later picked up their plaques). He’s talking Guns N Roses amazing performance without Axl Rose, Van Halen’s induction with no Eddie or Alex in attendance, Prince’s blistering guitar solo during the George Harrison tribute of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” and Geddy Lee playing bass for Yes. And of course he speaks to why hip hop has been embraced by the Rock Hall, but metal is hardly represented!
