Jack Deveau has been called the master of narrative gay porn. During the 1970’s he molded moody stories that were filled with hot sex and sociopolitical messages and heavily plotted films that still resonate today. Deveau, along with his lover and business partner Robert Alvarez presided over one of the most well-regraded studios of the day, Hand in Hand, that shot and distributed gay erotic movies.
And though many have said the best of these films is A Night at The Adonis, it is his inaugural film, Left-Handed that is in my eyes the perfect combination of experimental meets story and some steamy sex scenes.
Wade Nichols emerged onto the screen during the 1970’s golden age of adult cinema and was one of the last true matinees idols. He was handsome and talented; a different breed of supermen of the day who would become a singer and soap star.
In this episode, we will celebrate Jack Deveau, his film Left-Handed and Wade Nichols.
